1. Set the geographic frame before you read the numbers
Lake Carmel is a census-designated place in Putnam County, New York. The Census Bureau’s 2020–2024 ACS five-year estimate records 7,854 residents, with a margin of error of 442. A population estimate cannot tell you how many people are searching for a lawyer, which practice areas they need, how many firms compete for attention or how many matters a campaign might produce. It does, however, make precise geography important. A Lake Carmel target is not automatically a Putnam County target, and neither is automatically a New York-wide target. The dashboard discussion should therefore identify the places your firm actually serves and keep those scopes distinct when reviewing rankings, calls and leads.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how service-and-city targets would be defined for Lake Carmel, Putnam County and broader New York coverage. Decide whether each location belongs in the same reporting view or should remain a separate segment. Do not treat the Census population figure as a forecast or a performance benchmark.
