1. Define the geography before you interpret a result
The Census record identifies Greenville CDP and its relationship to Westchester County. A firm may serve Greenville, other parts of Westchester County, New York more broadly, or a combination of areas. Those are different reporting scopes. A dashboard result for a city, county, state or service area should not be treated as interchangeable. Ask which geography is attached to each tracked keyword, call, form or matter, and whether a “city” label describes the searcher’s location, the page being measured or the matter’s service area. The dashboard page says Bosseo can show keyword coverage, city data and case-type trends, but the appropriate definitions for your firm should be agreed during review rather than assumed.
Recommended approach
Create a written geography dictionary before accepting any report. At minimum, distinguish Greenville CDP, Westchester County and New York, then decide which areas belong in rankings, lead attribution and matter reporting. Do not use the population estimate as a forecast of demand.
