1. Set the geographic scope before you interpret reviews
A Ghent practice may serve people in the town, elsewhere in Columbia County or in additional New York locations. Those areas are not interchangeable. The Census identifies Ghent as a municipal town in Columbia County, New York, with a 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate of 5,267. That is useful for documenting the place you serve, but it cannot tell you how many people need a lawyer, how many firms compete for them or how many reviews your firm should receive. Reputation work should therefore begin with the firm’s actual service area and client eligibility rules, not a population-based growth assumption.
Recommended approach
Write down the locations and practice areas the firm wants its public profile to support. Review whether Ghent is the primary service location, one part of a Columbia County footprint or one location among several New York markets. Keep those choices distinct when you assess review sources, profile language and inquiry quality.
