1. Start with the Esopus service boundary, not a population assumption
Esopus is recorded as a municipal town in Ulster County, New York. A firm may serve people in Esopus, elsewhere in Ulster County or in another defined area, but those geographic relationships should be explicit in the intake conversation. Population eligibility is not the same as demand. The town’s estimate of 9,561 should not be used to predict calls, cases, language needs, competition or revenue. For Intake Coach, the useful question is narrower: does your team reliably identify where a caller’s matter belongs, whether the firm serves that jurisdiction and what should happen when it does not?
Recommended approach
Define the geographic questions your intake staff should ask and the destinations for matters outside the firm’s service area. Review whether an Esopus caller receives a clear next step, whether an Ulster County jurisdiction issue is escalated and whether an out-of-scope inquiry is recorded for appropriate follow-up. Treat the town boundary and county relationship as routing context, not as a forecast.
