1. Set the geographic boundary before selecting stories
Bosseo’s public Legal News page says its system monitors local and national legal-news sources for a firm’s state and matches stories to the firm’s practice areas. For a firm serving Carmel, the known geographic relationship is Carmel town in Putnam County, New York. That does not by itself define every community your firm serves, nor does it establish that a Carmel-related story will attract a particular audience. A useful evaluation should therefore distinguish Carmel, Putnam County, New York and any broader metropolitan coverage the firm intentionally accepts. It should also identify whether a page is meant to explain a statewide legal development, a Putnam County event or a story specifically connected with Carmel.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to review the geographic scope your firm wants before discussing story selection. Decide which locations may appear in coverage, which practice areas may be connected to those locations and which matters should be excluded. Keep the boundary visible in the approval decision rather than treating the Carmel population estimate as a demand forecast.
