1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The Census record identifies Amsterdam as a municipal town in New York and places it in Montgomery County. It does not say that every prospective client is located inside the town, nor does it establish a service area beyond that relationship. For attribution, that distinction matters. A local page, a referral, an advertisement or an organic result may introduce a person who lives elsewhere but is considering your firm. Treating “Amsterdam” as a complete market could make the reporting answer the wrong question.
Recommended approach
Use the consultation to define the geographic labels that matter to your practice: Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York, or another service area your firm chooses. Then review whether the attribution record can distinguish the landing page, referral source and intake information needed for those decisions. Do not use the town’s population estimate as a forecast of inquiries or cases.
