1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
The Census record identifies Allegany as a town in Cattaraugus County, New York. A firm may serve the town, other parts of Cattaraugus County, or a wider New York market, but those are different geographic choices. A news page about a statewide legal development should not be presented as though it were town-specific. Conversely, a page about an incident or proceeding in another location may be irrelevant if the firm does not serve that area. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says stories are matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. It does not establish a particular Allegany or Cattaraugus County coverage plan.
Recommended approach
Define the geographic scope in advance: Allegany town, Cattaraugus County, New York, or another expressly chosen service area. Ask how a proposed story will be framed when its facts come from outside Allegany. Treat the population estimate as eligibility context only, not as a forecast of attention or client volume.
