1. Establish the geographic boundary before reading the numbers
White Horse is recorded as a CDP in Mercer County, New Jersey. That relationship matters because a dashboard can display place-level and county-level questions differently. A White Horse page, a Mercer County campaign and a broader New Jersey service area should not be treated as interchangeable. The Census population estimate provides a reference for the place, but it does not establish demand, competition, rankings, leads, cases or revenue. During evaluation, ask how geography is represented in keyword targets, source attribution and reporting views. Also ask whether a city label means the search target, the caller’s stated location, the page that generated the contact or another field. Those distinctions affect interpretation.
Recommended approach
Create a written geographic definition for each reporting view. At minimum, identify whether the firm wants to review White Horse, Mercer County, New Jersey or another approved service area, and require each metric to show what geographic field it uses. Do not approve a dashboard view merely because it displays a place name.
