1. Define Bloomfield reporting before reviewing performance
A local dashboard can become misleading when “Bloomfield” is treated as interchangeable with Essex County, New Jersey, a metropolitan area or an entire service territory. The Census record identifies Bloomfield township as a municipal-town and places it in Essex County. It does not show how many people search for legal services or how many matters a firm should expect. During evaluation, ask whether geography is attached to a keyword, a landing page, a call, a form, a client record or some other event. Ask separately how the dashboard represents people who live outside Bloomfield but contact a firm about a Bloomfield matter.
Recommended approach
Agree on geographic definitions before comparing trends. A useful acceptance criterion is that a reviewer can tell whether a displayed city refers to the search target, the page target, the caller’s location, the matter location or another field. Keep Bloomfield, Essex County and broader New Jersey reporting distinct unless the firm deliberately chooses to combine them.
