Start with the bottleneck, not a feature list
Custom software is most useful when a repeated task does not fit the tools your firm already uses. Bosseo describes builds such as client portals, intake tools, internal dashboards and referral fee trackers. It also gives examples of work that firms may perform manually, including retyping information, answering repeated status questions and routing new leads. For an Offutt AFB practice, define the geographic boundary before defining the tool: Offutt AFB CDP is recorded in Sarpy County, Nebraska. That relationship may matter when your team decides which location, service area or matter category belongs in a workflow. It does not tell you which process deserves automation.
Recommended approach
Write one sentence beginning, “Someone at the firm has to manually…” Then document who performs the task, what information is entered, where it goes, where it stalls and what a correct result looks like. If the problem cannot be stated clearly, continue discovery before discussing a build.
