1. Set the geographic boundary before selecting stories
Your firm may serve Sunset Hills, other parts of St. Louis County, the wider St. Louis metropolitan area, or clients elsewhere in Missouri. Those are different audiences. The Census record identifies Sunset Hills as a municipality in St. Louis County; it does not establish how far your practice reaches or which stories prospective clients will search. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its system monitors local and national legal-news sources for a state and matches stories to practice areas. That makes geographic configuration a buying question: should coverage focus on Missouri law, St. Louis County developments, incidents connected to places your firm serves, or a broader state audience?
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area definition to the consultation. Separate Sunset Hills from St. Louis County, the metropolitan area, and statewide Missouri coverage. Ask how those boundaries would affect story selection, page language, calls to action, and reporting. Do not use the Sunset Hills population estimate as a forecast of demand.
