1. Put Macon and Macon County into the measurement boundary
The U.S. Census Bureau records Macon city as a municipality in Macon County, Missouri. Its 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate is 5,466, with a margin of error of 44. That is location and population context, not evidence of legal demand, search volume, competition, calls, cases or revenue. It does, however, make geographic definition important. A firm may serve Macon city, the rest of Macon County, Missouri more broadly, or another stated service area. Those are different reporting boundaries. If the boundary is unclear, a lead attributed to a page or referral may be counted correctly as a web event but interpreted incorrectly as a local opportunity. Before reviewing a dashboard, decide whether the business question is “which sources produce inquiries from Macon,” “which sources produce matters anywhere in Macon County,” or something broader.
Recommended approach
Write down the counties, municipalities and service areas your firm is willing to report separately. Ask Bosseo to demonstrate how geography appears in the records you would use, while keeping the location definition narrower than any unsupported assumption about where clients come from.
