1. Start with the geography behind each number
A local ROI figure is only useful when its geography is explicit. The Census records Minnetonka as a municipality in Hennepin County. Your firm may serve people in Minnetonka, elsewhere in Hennepin County, or across a broader Minnesota market, but those are different reporting questions. A dashboard should not turn the city’s population estimate into a forecast for searches, calls, cases or revenue. Ask whether a keyword, call, form or matter is being associated with Minnetonka itself, a county, a metropolitan area or the state. Also ask whether the location describes the searcher, the landing page, the service area or the matter.
Recommended approach
Create a geography policy before reviewing performance. List the locations you want to compare, define which ones may be grouped, and require every location-based view to show its exact scope. Keep Minnetonka city and Hennepin County as separate labels unless your firm deliberately decides otherwise.
