1. Set the geographic boundary before reading a local result
A local dashboard can become misleading when a firm treats Detroit Lakes, Becker County, Minnesota and a metropolitan area as interchangeable. They are not. The Census record identifies Detroit Lakes city as a municipality in Becker County, while Bosseo’s public description refers to service-and-city targets, cities producing calls and rankings across a state. Those descriptions do not establish which places would be tracked for your firm. Ask whether a target means Detroit Lakes city, Becker County, another named Minnesota location or a broader area, and require each label to remain visible in the reporting.
Recommended approach
Bring your preferred service areas to the consultation and ask Bosseo to document the geographic definition for every tracked target, call classification and source-attribution view. Do not use the city’s population estimate as a forecast. Use it only to explain why a boundary decision matters in a relatively specific local market.
