1. Set the geographic boundary before selecting stories
Crystal is a municipality in Hennepin County, Minnesota. Those labels describe different geographic relationships: a Crystal page is not automatically a Hennepin County page, and neither is automatically a Minnesota-wide page. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its monitoring is matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. It does not establish that every story will be locally specific to Crystal or Hennepin County. That distinction matters when a headline involves a highway, court, agency, rule or incident outside the firm’s service area. A Crystal firm should decide whether its useful coverage is city-specific, county-wide, statewide or a clearly defined combination.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area map to the consultation. Separate Crystal from Hennepin County and Minnesota, then identify which locations the firm actually serves. Ask how a proposed story’s geography will be assessed and how an attorney can reject a page that is legally relevant but outside the firm’s intended coverage. Do not use Crystal’s population estimate as a substitute for a demand study.
