1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring for a firm’s state and matching coverage to its practice areas. Your firm should decide whether “Troy” is the primary geographic reference, whether Oakland County is relevant to the practice, and when a Michigan-wide story is useful. Those are different scopes. Troy is recorded as a municipality in Oakland County; neither the city estimate nor the county relationship proves that residents are searching for a particular legal service. A story about a Michigan statute may be relevant across the state, while a local incident may require careful confirmation of the location and legal significance before publication.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how geographic relevance is reviewed for a Troy firm. Establish editorial rules for Troy, Oakland County, and Michigan coverage, and exclude stories that cannot be connected accurately to your practice or service area. Measure each scope separately so a page viewed by a Michigan reader is not automatically treated as a Troy inquiry.
