1. Define the geographic scope before reading a number
“Texas” can describe the state or a place with Texas in its name. The U.S. Census Bureau records Texas charter township as a municipal-town in Kalamazoo County, Michigan, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 18,226 and a margin of error of 26. That fact identifies a geographic relationship; it does not establish legal demand, competition, search volume, calls or revenue. A Texas law firm should therefore decide whether its dashboard labels refer to statewide Texas, named Texas counties, Texas metropolitan areas, Michigan, or a specific Michigan locality. Do not combine those scopes into one total and call it a market.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how geography is represented in rankings, calls, leads and case-type views. Require separate labels for Texas and Michigan, and preserve the exact county or metropolitan scope selected by the firm. If the firm is considering work connected to Kalamazoo County, treat the Census record as location context only, not as a forecast.
