1. Start with Oxford’s actual service area
Oxford charter township is a municipal-town in Oakland County, Michigan. The 2020–2024 American Community Survey five-year estimate records 22,593 residents, with a margin of error of 74. That population figure describes the township; it does not establish legal demand, search activity, lead volume, staffing needs or language preferences. It does, however, make geographic definition an important implementation question. Your firm may serve Oxford itself, other Oakland County communities or a wider Michigan area, and those locations should not be collapsed into one label when reviewing lead origin.
Recommended approach
Before evaluating attribution, write down the geographic areas your firm intentionally serves and the areas it does not. Then decide whether reporting should distinguish Oxford from Oakland County and from broader Michigan inquiries. A location field that preserves those distinctions is more useful than a single “local” category.
