1. Match the news filter to the practice you actually serve
Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its system monitors more than 2,800 legal-news sources, re-scans every 15 minutes, and matches stories to practice areas and a state. It describes examples such as crashes, verdicts, recalls, new laws, appellate decisions and enforcement actions. Those capabilities make practice-area fit the first Livonia decision. A Wayne County personal-injury practice may review highway incidents, recalls and safety developments differently from a criminal-defense, family-law or estate-planning practice. Livonia’s municipal identity and Wayne County relationship help define the geographic review, but neither establishes that a particular story will produce qualified inquiries.
Recommended approach
List the practice areas you want covered, the Michigan geography that matters to your firm, and the types of legal questions you can responsibly explain. Ask Bosseo how the proposed filter would treat stories outside Livonia but within Wayne County, and how it would handle matters your firm does not accept.
