1. Start with the geographic definition
The Census record identifies Howard township as a municipal-town in Cass County, Michigan. That boundary matters when your firm decides what a “Howard” result, call or matter means. A dashboard should not silently treat Howard township, Cass County, a broader metropolitan area and all of Michigan as interchangeable. The same applies to households and individuals: a population estimate does not establish how many people need legal help, search for an attorney or become clients. In a consultation, ask how location labels are defined in the views you will use and whether the firm can distinguish a township target from a county-level or statewide result.
Recommended approach
Write down the geographic scope your firm wants reviewed: Howard township, Cass County, another defined area or a combination. Then require each location view to state what it represents before using it in a budget or practice-area decision.
