1. Set the geographic boundary before approving coverage
A Grand Rapids firm may serve the city, Kent County, a wider Michigan market, or another defined service area. Those are different scopes. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring for stories in a state and matching them to a firm’s practice areas. That does not, by itself, establish that every story will be locally relevant to Grand Rapids or Kent County. A page about a Michigan law may be useful statewide, while a page about an incident elsewhere may not fit a firm whose work is concentrated in Grand Rapids.
Recommended approach
At consultation, define which pages should address Grand Rapids, which may address Kent County, and which may address Michigan more broadly. Review whether each proposed story states its geographic relationship precisely. Do not use the city’s population as a substitute for a demand assessment; use actual inquiry and page-performance data after publication.
