1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
Your firm may serve Burton, other parts of Genesee County, Michigan or a narrower service area. Those are different choices. A Burton city fact should not be presented as evidence about the whole county, a metropolitan area or Michigan. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its service matches stories to a firm’s practice areas and state. That makes geographic review essential: a Michigan-wide story may be relevant, while a story about another jurisdiction may require a clear explanation of why it matters to your clients. The Burton population estimate can establish that the municipality is a defined service location; it cannot establish that residents are searching for a particular legal topic.
Recommended approach
Before booking, write down the locations your firm actually serves and the locations it does not serve. Ask how a proposed page would identify Burton, Genesee County and Michigan without implying that one geographic fact describes all three. Review whether each story should be framed for local readers, statewide readers or both.
