1. Establish the geographic frame before reviewing performance
Your firm may describe its service area as Bedford, Monroe County, Michigan or a wider market. Those labels are not interchangeable. Bedford township is a municipal-town in Monroe County, and the Census population estimate applies to that township—not to every household, individual or surrounding market. A dashboard review should therefore distinguish the location attached to a keyword, page, call or lead from the location used in a broader marketing plan. Bosseo’s public ROI Dashboard text describes tracking service-and-city targets, city data and city-level decisions. The important question for your firm is how those geographic labels will be recorded and interpreted.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how Bedford township, Monroe County and any additional service areas would be represented. Decide which geographic fields belong in reports and which are merely campaign labels. Do not treat the township population as a forecast of calls or matters.
