1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The U.S. Census Bureau records Atlas township as a municipal-town in Genesee County, Michigan. Its 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate is 8,291, with a margin of error of 24. That is population context, not evidence of legal demand, search volume, competition, inquiries or revenue. It also does not define your service area. Your firm may serve Atlas township alone, additional Genesee County communities or a wider Michigan market. Those are separate geographic questions and should not be collapsed into one dashboard label.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing a dashboard, write down the geographic scope for each report: Atlas township, Genesee County, another named service area or Michigan statewide coverage. Ask whether rankings, calls, forms and matters can be reviewed by the same geography. If a contact cannot be assigned to a geography reliably, mark that limitation instead of treating the record as Atlas performance.
