1. Define the Algoma service area before configuring call handling
Algoma is a municipal township in Kent County, Michigan. Your firm may serve callers inside the township, elsewhere in Kent County or across a broader Michigan area, but those are different geographic choices. Population is eligibility evidence only; it cannot tell you how many people call, what matters they have or whether your current team needs additional coverage. The practical question is whether your greeting and intake path should identify the caller’s location, service eligibility or both. A location question may matter for jurisdiction, office selection or referral review. It should not be added merely because Algoma has a recorded population.
Recommended approach
Write down the geographic boundaries your firm actually accepts. During a consultation, review whether the answering flow should ask where an incident occurred, where the caller lives, which county is involved or which office they are trying to reach. Keep those questions separate from case facts and do not treat an Algoma caller as automatically eligible for representation.
