1. Start with the exact geography you want to evaluate
Your firm may serve Springfield city, Hampden County, Massachusetts, or a broader service area. Those are not interchangeable reporting scopes. The Census record identifies Springfield city and its relationship to Hampden County; it does not establish search volume, competition, calls, cases or revenue. A dashboard should therefore make the selected geography explicit rather than treating every nearby inquiry as evidence about Springfield. Ask whether a report distinguishes a Springfield city target from a countywide or statewide target, and whether a location field is being used consistently across calls, forms and matters.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing a demo, write down the geographic questions partners actually need answered. Examples include whether a tracked service-and-city target is producing inquiries, whether a broader county audience is being evaluated separately, and whether a matter belongs in the firm’s Massachusetts-wide reporting. Treat each as a measurement choice to confirm, not as a result to assume.
