1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The U.S. Census Bureau records Hingham as a municipal town in Plymouth County, Massachusetts, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 24,283 and a margin of error of 23. That is geographic context, not proof of legal demand, search volume, competition or revenue. A dashboard should therefore avoid treating every Massachusetts interaction as a Hingham result. During evaluation, ask whether location fields can distinguish Hingham from Plymouth County and from the firm’s wider service area. Also decide whether a report should group activity by the person’s location, the searched location, the landing page, the call classification or the matter record. Those are different questions.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area definition to the consultation. Ask to review how a Hingham inquiry would be identified, how county-wide activity would be grouped, and how uncertainty or missing location data would appear rather than being silently assigned.
