1. Define the geography before interpreting the numbers
The Census record identifies Clinton CDP and its relationship to Worcester County. Those are not interchangeable geographic labels. A dashboard may also contain city, county, state, service-area or metropolitan views, but the correct interpretation depends on how each view is defined. A ranking for a Clinton service-and-city target is not the same evidence as a Worcester County result, and neither proves that a person became a client. Before using the dashboard in a partner meeting, ask which geographic field belongs to each keyword, call, form and matter. Also ask whether a location reflects the searcher’s location, the page target, the office location or the matter’s service area.
Recommended approach
Create a written geographic definition for every reportable field. Review Clinton CDP, Worcester County and Massachusetts separately, and decide which geography belongs in budget, intake and matter discussions. Treat the Census population as context only, not as a forecast.
