1. Set the geographic boundary before reading the numbers
The U.S. Census Bureau records Burlington as a census-designated place in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 26,274 and a margin of error of 26. That is a geographic and population fact, not evidence of legal demand, search volume, competition, leads or revenue. For a Burlington firm, the first dashboard decision is therefore scope: which locations should be treated as Burlington, which should be grouped separately, and whether a city, county, state or metropolitan view answers the business question. A single geographic label can conceal materially different results if nearby service areas are combined without a defined rule.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how location is represented in the proposed reporting and agree on the geographic definitions before using location comparisons to allocate budget. Keep Burlington CDP, Middlesex County, Massachusetts and any broader service area distinct unless your firm deliberately chooses another reporting structure.
