1. Define the geographic labels before reviewing performance
A firm serving Elkton may also describe its service area through Cecil County, Maryland, or other locations selected by the firm. Those labels are not interchangeable. Elkton is recorded as a municipality within Cecil County, and the Census estimate for the town is 15,910 people for 2020–2024. That is useful for identifying the place under discussion, but it cannot tell you how many people search for a legal service, contact a firm, or become clients. In an ROI review, a city, county, state, and service-area label should therefore be treated as separate dimensions rather than blended into one local total.
Recommended approach
Before judging a result, ask which geography it represents and whether the dashboard’s labels match the way your firm accepts matters. Review Elkton and Cecil County separately when that distinction affects intake, reporting or budget allocation. If a wider Maryland view is relevant, make that an explicit comparison instead of treating the town’s population as a proxy for market opportunity.
