Start with the Cambridge service area, not an assumed market
Cambridge is a municipality in Maryland, and the Census record places it in Dorchester County. The 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate for Cambridge city is 13,152, with a margin of error of 34. That is useful geographic context when you define the firm’s service area, but it does not establish legal demand, competition, case volume, search behavior or revenue. A custom-software decision should therefore begin with the firm’s actual workflow and the people it serves—not with a population figure treated as a forecast.
Recommended approach
On the consultation, separate Cambridge city, Dorchester County and any broader Maryland service area in your process map. Identify where a matter may originate, which staff members handle it and whether the proposed tool needs to distinguish those geographic relationships. Keep the geographic scope explicit in requirements and reporting rather than assuming that a city and county represent the same audience.
