Define the service area before spending on leads
Your firm should decide whether an LSA profile is intended for Berlin alone, Worcester County, or a broader Maryland service area. Berlin is recorded as a municipality in Worcester County; those geographic relationships should not be treated as interchangeable. A town boundary, a county boundary, and the locations your firm is willing to serve can produce different targeting and intake decisions. Population is not a substitute for a market review. The Census estimate for Berlin is useful for geographic identification, not for predicting how many people will search for a lawyer or contact your office. Bosseo’s public LSA page describes management of practice-area categories and service areas. That makes the initial conversation about eligibility and coverage more useful than a population-based forecast.
Recommended approach
Bring a written list of the locations your firm accepts, the locations it does not accept, and any practice-area limits. Ask Bosseo to review how those choices should be represented in the LSA profile and how out-of-area inquiries will be identified and measured.
