1. Set the geographic question before asking for reviews
Hampden is a municipal town in Penobscot County, Maine—not a synonym for the county, the state or a metropolitan area. A Hampden law firm may serve clients from outside the town, while a firm located elsewhere may serve Hampden. Those are different geographic questions. The ACS population estimate for Hampden town is useful for identifying the community being evaluated, but it cannot establish demand or the number of potential reviewers. A reputation plan should therefore begin with the firm’s actual service area, matter types and client relationship—not with an assumption that every resident is a prospective client.
Recommended approach
During the consultation, map the places the firm intentionally serves and decide whether review requests should describe the firm’s service area broadly or remain location-neutral. Review the Google Business Profile attached to the firm, the geographic language on its website and whether public responses could reveal sensitive information. Keep Hampden, Penobscot County and Maine distinct in planning and reporting.
