1. Choose the geographic scope before choosing stories
Farmington is a town in Franklin County, Maine. The Census population estimate applies to Farmington town, not automatically to Franklin County, all of Maine, households, or a metropolitan area. A legal-news program should therefore begin with the firm’s actual service area. A page about a statewide law change may be relevant to a Maine practice, while a page about an incident elsewhere may not be appropriate for a firm that wants to speak only to Farmington or Franklin County. Bosseo’s public Legal News page says its service matches stories to a firm’s practice areas and state. That supports a review of state-level relevance, but it does not establish that every story will be locally relevant or that local searchers will respond.
Recommended approach
Decide whether the editorial boundary is Farmington, Franklin County, Maine, or a defined combination. Review proposed topics against that boundary before publication. Keep the town’s population estimate as context only; do not use it to forecast demand or justify a publishing volume.
