1. Define the territory before you set a budget
Mayfield and Graves County are not interchangeable labels. The Census record identifies Mayfield city as a municipality and records its county relationship as Graves County. Your firm may serve only Mayfield, all of Graves County, or a broader area; the correct LSA service area depends on the territory you actually accept. A city population estimate cannot tell you how many people are searching for a lawyer, how many firms compete, or how many inquiries an advertisement will produce. It is useful only as geographic context. Bosseo’s public LSA description says its program includes practice-area categories and service areas set deliberately. That makes the first decision operational: identify the locations you want and the matters you can handle there.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area map to the consultation. Separate Mayfield city from Graves County and any other Kentucky locations your firm serves. Ask how each proposed area would affect eligibility, relevance, budget control and lead review.
