1. Define the geography before you interpret a Crestwood number
A location label can conceal different questions. A Crestwood keyword target, a call from someone in Oldham County and a matter accepted by a firm serving Kentucky are not automatically the same record. The Census identifies Crestwood city as a municipality in Oldham County, with a 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate of 6,356 and a margin of error of 23. That is useful for naming the geographic unit, but it is not evidence that a particular practice area has demand there. A dashboard should therefore make the geographic definition visible rather than encouraging you to treat one place-level total as the whole market. Ask which tracked targets are tied specifically to Crestwood, which are broader, and whether a call or form can be associated with a service area without overstating precision.
Recommended approach
At the consultation, write down the geographic labels your firm actually needs: Crestwood, Oldham County, any broader Kentucky coverage, and any other service area you choose to evaluate. Decide which labels belong on ranking reports, lead records and matter reviews. Keep population context separate from performance measures.
