1. Define the geography before evaluating coverage
Spencer is a municipality in Iowa, and its recorded county relationship is Clay County. Those are different geographic units. A page about a Spencer incident, a Clay County legal development and an Iowa statute may each serve a different audience. The Census estimate of 11,400 applies to Spencer city for the 2020–2024 ACS five-year period; it does not describe all of Clay County or prove that residents are searching for legal help. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring local and national legal-news sources for a firm’s state and matching stories to practice areas. That makes geographic scope an implementation decision, not a conclusion drawn from population.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how a proposed news program would distinguish Spencer, Clay County and statewide Iowa coverage. Review whether each story has a clear connection to the people and legal questions your firm serves. Do not approve a geographic expansion simply because a larger area has more residents.
