Start with a geographic definition that matches the firm’s work
The U.S. Census Bureau records Pella city as a municipality with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 10,720 and a margin of error of 30. The record associates the city with Mahaska County and Marion County. That is useful for defining reporting boundaries, not for predicting legal demand or financial return. A Pella firm should decide whether it wants to view Pella city, either county, Iowa-wide activity, or another service area. Those are different reporting questions. A dashboard can be misleading when a city label, county coverage area and statewide keyword footprint are treated as interchangeable.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing performance, write down the geographic label attached to each measure. Ask whether the view distinguishes Pella from Mahaska County and Marion County, and whether statewide ranking information is being used for context rather than presented as local performance.
