1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The U.S. Census Bureau records Clear Lake as a municipality in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 7,607, with a margin of error of 20. That is geographic and eligibility context—not evidence of legal demand, search volume, competition, lead volume or revenue. Your attribution review should therefore preserve location distinctions instead of treating every inquiry as a “Clear Lake” lead. Ask whether records can be reviewed by the location expressed by the prospective client, the page visited, the office or service area selected, and the matter outcome. If your firm serves the city, the county and clients elsewhere in Iowa, those boundaries should remain visible in reporting and intake review.
Recommended approach
Define the geographic questions before judging channel performance: Which inquiries concern Clear Lake? Which concern another Cerro Gordo County community? Which are outside the intended service area? Use those categories to review ownership, qualification and follow-up rather than using population as a forecast.
