1. Set the geographic brief before choosing stories
Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring local and national legal-news sources for a firm’s state and matching stories to practice areas. Your firm still needs to define what “local” means for its service area. St. John is recorded as a municipality in Lake County, Indiana. That is different from saying that every Lake County story is a St. John story, or that an Indiana-wide development is locally specific. A page about a statewide law change may be relevant to St. John residents without describing an event in St. John. A page about an incident elsewhere in Lake County may require careful wording so readers do not mistake the location of the event.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how proposed coverage will distinguish St. John, Lake County and broader Indiana topics. Approve pages only when the location is stated accurately and the connection to your practice is clear. Treat the Census population as geographic context, not as evidence that a story will attract searches or inquiries.
