Define the geography before reading the numbers
A location label can hide an important distinction. Rushville is a municipality in Rush County, Indiana, while a firm may serve people in the city, elsewhere in the county, or outside that county. The Census population estimate describes Rushville city—not every household or individual in Rush County, and not the number of people seeking legal help. For an ROI Dashboard, the first decision is therefore geographic definition: which city, county, service area or other location labels should be attached to a ranking, call, lead or matter. Bosseo’s public ROI Dashboard page describes city data, keyword tracking and lead attribution. Ask how those labels would be defined for your firm before treating a location trend as a budget signal.
Recommended approach
Write down the geographic scope for each reportable activity. During the review, ask to see how a Rushville activity would be distinguished from an activity elsewhere in Rush County and how the dashboard would display a broader Indiana target if you use one.
