1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The dashboard’s value depends on a precise reporting boundary. Marion is a municipality in Grant County, not a synonym for every household, individual or nearby market. If your firm serves Marion and also accepts matters elsewhere in Indiana, those scopes should not be blended into one unexplained total. Ask how city, county, statewide and other service-area activity will be represented. The Census record gives you a defensible starting point for naming Marion and Grant County; it does not establish which legal services people seek or where prospective clients will come from.
Recommended approach
Create a written geography definition before reviewing performance. Decide whether a report should separate Marion from Grant County, and identify any additional Indiana areas your firm intentionally serves. In the consultation, ask how location data will be displayed and what a location label means before using it in a budget decision.
