1. Define what “East Chicago” means on the board
A location label can hide an important measurement choice. The Census records East Chicago city as a municipality in Lake County. Your firm may want to review city-specific activity separately from broader Lake County activity, but the dashboard should not silently treat the city, county, Indiana or a metropolitan area as interchangeable. Bosseo’s public ROI Dashboard page says its reporting can include case-type and city data, along with keyword rankings and trends over time. During a review, ask how a location is named, stored and displayed, and whether a city result can be separated from a county result. The East Chicago population estimate—26,022 for the 2020–2024 ACS 5-year period—can help describe the place covered by the page. It cannot establish how many people need legal help or how many inquiries a firm should expect.
Recommended approach
Bring a written geographic definition to the consultation: East Chicago city, Lake County, Indiana, or another area your firm deliberately serves. Ask to see how each scope would appear in a report and what would prevent one scope from being mistaken for another.
