1. Start with Springfield’s actual service boundary
The U.S. Census Bureau records Springfield as a municipality in Sangamon County, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 113,330 and a margin of error of 437. That figure describes the city population; it does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, lead volume or revenue. It also does not describe every person your firm may serve in Sangamon County or elsewhere in Illinois. Attribution should therefore preserve the geography attached to each inquiry rather than treating every contact as a Springfield lead.
Recommended approach
Decide which geographic distinctions matter to intake and reporting. At minimum, review whether your team needs to distinguish Springfield city from other Sangamon County locations, and whether service-area information belongs in the qualification record. Ask Bosseo how location information would be represented and connected to the journey. Do not use the city’s population as a forecast.
