1. Set the geographic boundary before you assess a story
A Plano law firm should decide whether its news coverage is intended for Plano, Kendall County, Illinois, or a broader area the firm actually serves. Those are not interchangeable audiences. The Census record identifies Plano as a municipality and places it in Kendall County; it does not establish how many people search for legal information, where prospective clients come from, or whether a particular news event will produce qualified inquiries. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says stories are matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. That makes geographic definition an implementation decision, not a population-based marketing conclusion.
Recommended approach
Write down the places your firm is prepared to serve and the places it does not want to address. Then review whether a proposed page names Plano, Kendall County, another Illinois location, or only the state. A page should explain the geographic connection rather than attach a Plano label to an unrelated event.
