1. Set the geographic boundary before reading the numbers
The Census record identifies Loves Park as a municipality and records Boone County and Winnebago County relationships. Those labels should not be collapsed into one undifferentiated “local” result. A firm may serve people in Loves Park, one or both listed counties, a wider Illinois territory, or another area entirely. The dashboard’s city and source questions therefore need a written geographic definition. A call from a resident of Loves Park, a referral from elsewhere in Winnebago County, and a visitor who found an Illinois service page are not interchangeable evidence. The population estimate supplies scale for planning the conversation, but it does not establish search volume, competition, leads, cases or revenue.
Recommended approach
During a Bosseo review, ask which location labels can be reported and whether your own service territory can be represented without treating the Census geography as a demand forecast. Agree on whether a decision concerns Loves Park alone, the two recorded counties, or a broader Illinois market. Keep the geographic rule beside every report so a change in territory does not look like a change in performance.
