1. Start with Lansing’s actual geographic boundary
The U.S. Census Bureau records Lansing village as a municipality in Cook County, Illinois, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 28,284 and a margin of error of 50. That figure describes the village population. It does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, lead volume, staffing needs or revenue, and it should not be used to infer language preferences or case mix. For attribution, the geographic distinction matters because your firm may serve Lansing, other parts of Cook County and areas beyond the village. A report that treats every inquiry as “Lansing” can obscure where a matter actually originated or where a landing page was used.
Recommended approach
Decide which geographic distinctions matter to your practice before reviewing attribution. At minimum, separate Lansing village from broader Cook County coverage when your site, advertising or intake records support that distinction. Ask whether a source record identifies the landing page and the person’s stated matter type, rather than treating the village population as a forecast.
