1. Start with the geographic definition your firm actually uses
A dashboard can become misleading when “Dolton” means one thing to marketing staff and another to attorneys reviewing matters. The Census records Dolton village as a municipality in Cook County. Your firm may serve people in Dolton, elsewhere in Cook County, or a wider Illinois or metropolitan service area. Those are different geographic scopes and should not be blended into one label. The Dolton population estimate provides eligibility context for a local market conversation, but it does not establish how many residents need a lawyer or how many searches occur. A useful review should therefore ask whether locations are defined consistently across tracked keywords, landing pages, call tags, forms and matter records.
Recommended approach
Bring a written geographic definition to the consultation: Dolton-only, Dolton plus Cook County, or a broader service area. Ask to see how each scope would be named and separated in reporting. Do not approve a dashboard view that treats population, ranking position or a call from a location as a signed case.
