1. Define the Chicago service footprint before spending
The Census record identifies Chicago city and records relationships with Cook County and DuPage County. Those are not interchangeable targets: Chicago is a municipality, while counties describe broader geographic relationships. Your firm should decide whether it wants inquiries from Chicago itself, selected county areas, or another service area that matches its actual ability to represent clients. Bosseo’s public Local Services Ads description says the program includes practice-area categories and service areas set deliberately. That makes geographic scope a configuration decision, not a conclusion drawn from population.
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area policy to the consultation. Mark locations you serve, locations you do not serve, travel limits, and case types that require a local connection. Ask how each area will be represented in the profile and how out-of-area inquiries will be identified and handled.
