1. Separate Chicago’s service area from the source of an inquiry
Chicago is recorded as a municipality in Illinois. The 2020–2024 ACS five-year estimate records 2,711,226 residents, with a margin of error of 63, and records relationships with Cook County and DuPage County. That population figure describes the city; it does not establish search demand, legal need, lead volume or revenue. For attribution, the important decision is therefore not to treat Chicago as a single proof of performance. Review whether each inquiry’s journey identifies the relevant channel, referrer, landing page and later outcome. If your firm serves both the city and surrounding county relationships, examine those service paths separately rather than merging every visit into a Chicago total.
Recommended approach
Ask to review records by landing page, channel, case type and outcome. Decide which geographic distinctions matter to your intake and marketing decisions before using aggregated numbers.
